I often document when fools get caught and this right here tickles my funny bone. Putting notes on your car for cops does not work, as evidenced here. But she still felt the need to follow me 2 blocks to my apartment and ask me why I took a photo of her car. I said bc it’s funny. She didn’t like it but had no comeback for her dumb fuckery. #nyc #moneyca$hhoe$

Thankful for this today! #Repost @awakenewyorkclothing ・・・ 40 years ago today "Wild Style,” the groundbreaking American hip hop film directed and produced by Charlie Ahearn, released theatrically in 1983. It is widely regarded as the first hip hop motion picture, and features appearances by seminal figures in the early hip hop scene, including Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quiñones, Lady Pink, The Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Queen Lisa Lee of Zulu Nation, Grandmaster Flash and ZEPHYR. Ahearn and Fab 5 Freddy began working on the film in late 1981, with the approach being a hybrid of a narrative musical and documentary. The film has real hip hop pioneers playing themselves in a loosely scripted story, shot entirely in the South Bronx, the Lower East Side, and MTA subway yards. An early version of the Wild Style logo appeared in 1981, when Charlie Ahearn hired graffiti writer Dondi to paint the "window down" subway car piece that appears in the film. This Dondi piece was the inspiration for the animated title sequence designed by the artist, Zephyr, and animated by Joey Ahlbum in 1982. The Wild Style mural was painted by Zephyr, Revolt, and Sharp in 1983, and is another iconic image associated with the film. Overall, "Wild Style" is an important and influential piece of hip hop history, showcasing the early days of the culture and contributing to its growing popularity around the world. The movie featured some of the most iconic names from the era, including Smiley 149, Lady Pink, Crash, and Dondi, who all played a pivotal role in shaping the film's visual narrative. From the murals at Connie's Superette to the Dixie Club mural by Daze, the movie was a love letter to the vibrant and colorful world of hip-hop and graffiti. While the film may have premiered in Japan months before its New York debut, it remains a timeless classic that continues to inspire new generations of artists and creatives.
